Read the true life story of a grandparent — with their grandchildren right there in the pages.

How it works

  1. 1Tell us your storyAnswer questions one at a time — where you grew up, what you loved, the lessons you taught. Add a few photos. It saves as you go. Making this for your mom or dad? You can answer for them.
  2. 2Choose your portraitWe paint you as a storybook character from your photos. You pick the one that looks most like you.
  3. 3See your bookWe write and illustrate all 32 pages, with your grandchildren in the story. A real person checks every page, then you see the whole book. Written for grandchildren ages 3 to 8 — and loved by the whole family.

Painted to look like them

Every portrait is painted from the photos you send. Here are Nanny and Farfy — the real them, and the storybook them.

Questions

What is NanaBooks?
A children's storybook about your family's grandparent, written from your answers to a few simple questions, with pictures drawn to look like them.
Will the pictures really look like Nana?
They're illustrated in a warm storybook style, drawn from the photos you send. Before we make the book, we'll show you a few portraits and you choose the one that looks most like her.
Is this made with AI?
Yes, with a person in the loop. The story is written and the pictures are painted with AI, from your own words and photos — that's how we can make a one-of-a-kind book for every family at a fair price. But no book goes out untouched. Every page is checked by a real person: if a picture doesn't look like Nana, we redraw it until it does. You'll see every page before you buy, and if we can't make a book you love, there is no obligation to continue.
How long does it take?
Your digital copy is ready in 2 to 3 days. A printed book arrives in about 3 weeks in the US, or about 2 weeks in Canada. Need it sooner? Rush shipping in the US gets it to you in about 2 weeks.
How much does it cost?
Hardcover $89 (digital copy included), digital $39, extra hardcovers $49. Standard shipping is included.
Is this easy enough for someone who isn't good with technology?
Yes. If you can send a photo from your phone, you can make a NanaBook. You answer questions one at a time, it saves as you go, and a real person is one email away.
I'm stuck. Who can help?
Email hello@nanabooks.com. A real person will answer.
